After getting her college degree, Diana was selected for the 2004 WNBA draft. She played two seasons before NBA coach Paul Westhead became the head coach for the 2006 season. In this season, she broke two records – the WNBA record of 8 three-pointers and the WNBA record of 121 three-pointers. But from 2004 till 2006, Taurasi couldn’t take Mercury to the playoffs.
In 2007, Diana finally reached the WNBA playoffs. She defeated the opponents and reached the finals to play against “Detroit Shock”. Diana, along with Taylor and Pondexter, won the first WNBA title. Taurasi is the seventh player to win an NCAA title, a WNBA title, and an Olympic gold medal.
